Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat
Madekwe is from a multi-cultural household. Her birthplace was in South London. Madekwe is English but her father is Nigerian. Her family was raised in a South London council estate and at the age of 14, attended The Brit School. She went to The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London in which she earned a BA in acting. She was a part of various stages during her high time at school, including King Henry V and Wuthering Heights.
Madekwe started her career as an actor through the film Storm Damage. In the years since, she's had guest appearances in films like Teachers, Doctors Casualty Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe scored her first motion-picture role in the Woody Allen movie Cassandra's Dream, opposite Colin Farrell and Ewan McGregor. After that her role was Elisha in the one-off BBC Three drama pilot West 10 LDN, and appeared in six episodes of Trexx and Flipside in the role of Ollie. In 2008, Madekwe landed Bambi who was the leading character in the ITV2 comedy Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Madekwe starred as the lead character for How to Lose Friends And Alienate Others, a comedy made in 2008. Her theatre credits include Little Sweet Thing by Roy Williams as well as Flight Path by David Watson.
Madekwe was officially introduced to her US debut on The Beautiful Life in 2009. The series aired only two episodes at The CW, and was eventually removed from the air. She was cast in February 2011 in the role of Ashley Davenport on the ABC drama Revenge. Madekwe appeared in all episodes of the series' initial two seasons as a regular. But in May of 2013, it was announced that announcement was made that she would be departing the show following her guest appearance on the opening episode for its third season. She played Tituba in the series Salem in 2014 until 2016. Madekwe married her long-time partner, Iddo. They have worked together on Secret Diary of a Call Girl, and he was also on the show with Madekwe on the show Salem.
Ashley Leggat was born in Hamilton, Ontario, into the extended family of a huge, large. The four brothers she had were present as well including twins Todd and Bram, Brett & Rob. Ashley's siblings, who are all athletic, played baseball in summers and played hockey during winter. Ashley did not walk; instead, she would dance. In the age of two and half she discovered Baby Ballet. Ashley began to develop a love of dancing when she began the Baby Ballet. Ashley was a top competitor in divisions of tap, jazz hip hop, ballet lyrical musical theatre, acrobatics and pointe until she graduated in high school. Additionally, she was awarded the top awards for soloists in every important dance competitions like the International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers, 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance among others.
